Wenhaston with Mells Neighbourhood Plan 2105 - 2030

WHY PREPARE A NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN?

Wenhaston with Mells Hamlet is a beautiful and supportive rural parish with many qualities which we should endeavour to preserve or enhance. Writing a Neighbourhood Plan gives us the opportunity to determine how the Parish should evolve over the next fifteen years. Already we are working on this Parish web site which will be available to all and we would now wish for the village to go on to influence important aspects of community life.

WHO HAS A SAY IN THE PLAN?

Primarily the people of Wenhaston with Mells Hamlet. They will be consulted regularly to make sure that the plan reflects their wishes.

The Plan will have to be in conformity with the National Planning Policy Framework and the Strategic Policies of Suffolk Coastals Local Plan as they relate to Wenhaston with Mells. It must also have regard for preserving the heritage and ecology of the Plan area, EU obligations and human rights.

WHAT WILL BE IN THE PLAN?

Anything that has broad support from the village. Some points that we might like to consider are:

  • To ensure that Wenhaston with Mells remains a vibrant and sustainable Parish.
  • To protect and preserve those aspects of the community that need protecting.
  • To identify the housing needs of the community.
  • To identify and support improvements to local amenities and community facilities to meet our future needs?

As the Plan progresses you will have opportunities to make suggestions to better reflect the needs of the village. Once complete, the Plan will have legal weight in determining planning applications and decisions in the area.
